ZSÓFIA PÁLYI

 

Zsófia Pályi is a photographer and multimedia journalist, based in Budapest, Hungary. She received her bachelor`s degree in photography from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest in 2010. Earlier she has studied at the Department of Media and Communication and Department of Portuguese Language at Eötvös Loránd University. 

She has been working for Origo, one of the leading newspapers in Hungar, for nine years. Besides, she has assignments for Marie Claire magazine. Now she works mainly for magazines, and besides focuses on her personal projects. She is interested in feature stories, portrait and documentary photography: In the recent years, she also focused on African themes, and covered stories in Kenya and Mozambique.

She has received several prizes at the Hungarian Press Photo Competition including the Grant for best achievement in photojournalism under the age of 30. She has won the Pécsi Fine Art Photography Grant, Hungarian state scholarchip, three times. Her photos have been purchased internationally, by the CNN, New York Times, Vice Uk, Al Jazeera, Marie Claire Arabia and Hungary, The Sunday Guardian, the UNHCR and the National Opera House in Budapest. Recently she has just won the Grand Prize at PhotoPort 2013 portfolio review in Budapest. She has also participated in the Magnum Workshop with Ian Berry photographer, in Budapest, where she has been selected out of the group to present her work in British Jornal of Photography. Recetly she has been selected to be part of the Danube Revisited team and travel with nine former Inge Morath winner photographers within the Inge Morath Truck Project. Her series, Balaton, the Hungarian Sea has been nominated Coeup de Coeur ANI 2014 at Perpignan Photo Festival.
